JOB TITLE: Pacolet Branch Librarian, Grade 26
LOCATION: Pacolet Library
DATE AVAILABLE: March 1, 2026
SALARY: $50,805 yearly (Includes generous benefit package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

Week A, B, & D: Monday through Friday 9:00am - 6:00 pm

Week C: Monday through Thursday 9:00am - 6:30 pm and Saturday 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes, may be asked to work other times as needed).



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in library science from an accredited ALA library school, with knowledge of branch services in public libraries with a minimum of three years supervisory experience preferred. Must pass pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversees daily functions of the library including scheduling, building needs, patron interactions, and procedures.
  • Buildsrelationshipswithin the community, attendingmeetingsand connecting to local services.
  • Sets standards for thebranchto provide superior customer service whenassistingall patrons.
  • Participates in the interview and selection process for all branch staff.
  • Regularlymeetswithbranch staff tocoordinate their training, supervise their work,andevaluate their performance.
  • Oversees the branch programming budget, extra hours budget, and funds from the local Friends of the Library.
  • Collaborates with the directorswhooversee system-wide programming, collections, and services.
  • Oversees branch buildingupkeep andoperations,including keeping an open line of communication with thefacilities,systems, andsecurity departments.
  • Stays informed of the needs and interests of all ages through library patron interactions and reading of current literature.


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Master's degree in library sciencefrom an accreditedALA (American Library Association)library school,with knowledge ofbranchservices in public libraries
  • Thorough knowledge of professional libraryprinciplesand practices,with minimum of three years of library experience andsupervisory experience
  • Forward-thinking,with the drive to set andaccomplishlong-term goals for the branch
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with technology
  • Ability toestablishdeadlines,monitorprogress, and work well with a team
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • SCPL uses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees may be required to use their personal device for MFA.
  • Driver’s license valid in the State of South Carolina with the ability to drive to other libraries or community outreach
