JOB TITLE: Digitization Assistant, Grade 19
LOCATION: Headquarters Library
DATE AVAILABLE: July 1, 2024
SALARY: $2,541 per month (Includes generous benefits package)

HOURS: 40 hours per week

mostly Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm but must be flexible to accommodate programs scheduled for nights and weekends.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Must pass pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform scanning of archival materials in various formats according to established archival protocols
Collaborate with community partners, patrons, and library staff to develop personal digitization programming
Promote archival and digital collections through outreach events and programs, especially in historically underrepresented communities throughout Spartanburg County
Operate library vehicles, including a large van
Instruct patrons and staff on use of library resources and equipment
Work with a variety of software and library automation programs  
Complete digitization requests for staff and patrons
Perform related tasks as required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience using digitization equipment, such as flat-bed scanners and A/V conversion equipment
Strong communication skills and comfortable speaking with individuals and in front of groups
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills that display a positive attitude and cultural sensitivity to engage with people from all backgrounds and age groups
Attention to detail with a strong work ethic and good time management and organizational skills
Highly flexible and adaptable to change
Ability to take direction and to work independently or on teams
Must be in possession of valid South Carolina driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle independently.
