JOB TITLE: Cyrill Westside Library Clerk, Grade 14
LOCATION: Cyrill-Westside Library
DATE AVAILABLE: April 1, 2026
SALARY: $1,244 per month (Includes some benefits)

HOURS: 25 hours per week

Week A: Sunday OFF; Monday 3pm-8pm; Tuesday OFF; Wednesday 3pm-8pm; Thursday 3pm-8pm; Friday 2pm-6pm; Saturday 11am–5 pm

Week B: Sunday 1:00pm – 5:00pm; Monday 3pm-8pm; Tuesday OFF; Wednesday 3pm-8pm; Thursday 3pm-8pm; Friday 2pm-6pm; Saturday OFF

(Note: Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes may be asked to work other times)



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical or public service experience. Must pass pre-employment testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all age groups whileassistingpatrons with questions in personandover the phone
  • Assistswith all circulation duties,library card registration,patron accountservicesand collection maintenance
  • Evaluates returned materials for damage, missingpiecesand overall condition
  • Performs basic readers’ advisory, information, and computerassistance, material retrieval and places hold requests
  • Works with a variety of software and library automation programs
  • Provideassistancewith the use of photocopy machines, payment kiosks, and self-check machines
  • Assistsin programsas needed
  • Communicates ideas and concerns to the supervisor
  • Contributes tobranch meetings and branchworkflow by making suggestions and sharing ideas
  • Regularly checks email,Intranetand library website fornew information
  • Remains aware of security and safety concerns takingappropriate actionas needed
  • Responsible for specialbranchprojects as assigned


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical or public service experience. Must enjoy working with the public of all ages
  • Creative,flexibleand organizedwithgood timemanagement skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
  • General knowledge of the procedures,practicesand equipment of a public library
  • Comfortable and proficient using technology including experience with PCs, Internet, and Microsoft Office and mobile devices
  • Knowledge of popular books, popcultureand current events
  • Ability to alphabetize and arrange items numerically
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skillsthat display a positive attitude, cultural sensitivity,a sense of humor, and the ability tointerface withpeople from all backgrounds and age groups
  • Exceptionalwritten and verbalcommunication skills
  • SCPL uses multi-factor authentication for network and program access. Employees maybe requiredto use their personal device for MFA.
  • Ability toprioritize tasks,take direction and work independently or in a team environment
