SCPL Teen Read Week
Teen Read Week encourages teens to make time to read for the fun of it.
Teen Candy Counting Contest
Guess how much candy is in the candy jar and win all the candy! Entry forms available in all Spartanburg County Public Library teen rooms.
Contest runs Oct 1 - 31.
Bite-Sized Short Story Contest
The 2008 Teen Read Week theme is “Books with Bite,” so we are challenging you to write an original bite-sized story—a six word short story.
Most stories have a main character, a central conflict, and a resolution. Do your best to include as many of these literary elements as you can in your story. Even short stories can have literary value!
The contest is open to teens ages 12-18 or in grades 7-12. To be eligible to win, the participating teen, or someone living at the teen’s permanent residence, must be a full-privilege SCPL cardholder.
The contest runs October 1st– 31st. Entries will be judged by library staff. The winner will be announced in early November. There is no limit to how many times you may enter, so flip this paper over and start writing!
One winner will receive a $10 gift card to Barnes & Noble, a Magnetic Poetry Calendar and the book Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure edited by Rachel Fershleiser and Larry Smith.
Design a Bookmark Contest
Teen Read Week encourages teens to make time to read for the fun of it! To
celebrate, we’re having a Design-a-Bookmark Contest. The winning entry will
be professionally printed and distributed at all Spartanburg County Public
Libraries. The winner’s school library will also receive bookmarks to
distribute.
The contest is open to teens ages 12-18 or in grades 7-12. To be eligible to win, participating teens, or someone living at the teen's permanent residence, must be a full-privilege Spartanburg County Public Library cardholder in good standing.
Design may be full color but must be 2” x 6” and include the 2008 Teen Read Week theme “Books with Bite.” Digital entries must be 300 dpi and saved as a .jpg, .pdf, .tiff, or .eps.
Entries must be accompanied by the artist’s name, address, phone #, age and grade in school and turned in to any Spartanburg County Public Library location or emailed as an attachment to teens@infodepot.org by October 31st.
Entries will be judged by library staff based on originality, use of theme and design. The teen who submits the winning design will win a $75 Visa gift card! Contest ends October 31st. The winner will be announced in November.
