How do I get a library card?

To receive a free full-privilege, resident card, you must show proof of current residence. To be considered a permanent resident, you must live in Spartanburg county at least 6 months of the year. A free library card is also available to anyone who lives in another county but owns property in Spartanburg County. Applicant must provide Spartanburg County tax receipt, proof of identity, and proof of current address.

How can I get a book from another library?

Interlibrary Loan is the process used to obtain materials or photocopies from other libraries when the materials are not available in the Spartanburg County Library system. Any person with a Spartanburg County Library card is eligible to request ILL materials with the exception of the out of county free cards issued to children.

How can I renew materials?

Items may be renewed for one additional loan period. If the item has holds on it, it may not be renewed. The renewal may be requested in person, online, or by telephone. In order to avoid late charges, the renewal must be requested by the due date.

Can I return books to any library?

Yes. Regardless of which library location you checked out the item, you may return it to any location.

Does the library have computers for public use?

Yes, each library location has computers for the public to use for word processing and internet access. These services are free, however any computer prints are .10¢ each.

Yes, each library location provides free wireless internet access.

How can I search the libraries’ online databases from home?

By simply visiting our Research Databases page. To access databases from home you will need either your library card number or a username and password. For any questions, accessing databases from home call 864-596-3505.

How do I reserve a meeting room?

Each library location has at least one meeting room. To reserve these rooms, please call the location where you would like to meet.

The Libraries accept donations of materials including books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, etc... during operating hours.
