Freedom Weekend Aloft, May 28-31, 2010, is an annual Memorial Day Weekend
festival held at the Heritage Park in Simpsonville (Greenville County) that
features 80 hot air balloons, concerts, food, interactive sponsor displays,
amusement rides, frisbee dog competition, Kid Zone, Field Day, Bike Ride, and more. The purpose of this event is
to raise money for charity. This year marks the 29th anniversary of the event.

The International Festival is held the first Saturday in October at
Spartanburg's Downtown Barnet Park. With over thirty nations
represented, the festival allows a unique exchange of international cultures to
be experienced, understood, and enjoyed. It is an opportunity to sample cultures
and cuisines from around the world and an educational experience for children.

by the City of Spartanburg and the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce and is

DATE OF FESTIVAL: The Saturday of St. Patrick's Day week
FEES: Food, drinks, and souvenirs are available for purchase, but the
celebration and parking are free to the public.
Shamrocks on the Square is Spartanburg's inaugural St. Patrick's Day
celebration. The festivities include live Irish music and dance,
children's activities, contests, giveaways, food and beverages. The beautiful
new fountain on Morgan Square will flow emerald green. Downtown Spartanburg is
the place to be for Irish "wannabes" and those just looking to have fun on St.
Patrick's Day weekend. Shamrocks on the Square is sure to deliver lots of Irish
smiles.

Spartanburg's largest event began in 1978, and has grown into a two-day annual
celebration of community that draws over 50,000 festival-goers from South
Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Food, refreshments, free live music and
other entertainment, arts and crafts, and an extensive interactive children's
area all combine to bring downtown Spartanburg alive during the first weekend in
May.

Promoting the oral
tradition of storytelling through the performing arts and education – the Stone
Soup Storytelling Festival is the official storytelling festival of South
Carolina. The festival is held in Woodruff, SC each April in and around the
Historic Woodruff High School and at a Branch of the Spartanburg County Public
Libraries, the Woodruff Library at 270 East Hayne Street. Other storytelling
events are held throughout the year.
